Prosecute; don't perpetrate
Monday 23 January 2017

Prosecute; don't perpetrate is a campaign that aims to help end impunity for sexual violence in armed conflict. They are calling on the Australian government to investigate and prosecute sexual violence as war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide perpetrated by Australian Da'esh fighters in Iraq and Syria. Sexual violence has been used as a weapon of war, constituent of genocide and in crimes against humanity by Da’esh in Iraq and Syria. Tens of thousands of fighters have travelled from countries where such offences are criminalised. What if those countries simply prosecuted the perpetrators?

You can sign their petition, which calls on the Australian Parliament to help end impunity for sexual violence in armed conflict through the investigation and prosecution of Australians who fought with Da’esh for their use of sexual violence in armed conflict. You can also take a #getcross photo for social media. There are other actions on the website that individuals or groups can take. You can follow the conversation on social media using the hashtags: #prosecutedontperpetrate #stoprapenow #UNSCR1325
